I have always loved artsy activities. I’m especially mesmerized by the beautiful things people can do with food. From unconventional works of art to beautifully plated meals…It all makes me rather happy.
That being said, you can just imagine how delighted I was to discover The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle a darling blog dedicated to decorating cookies. I spent a number of hours on this sight, last weekend, looking through the huge wealth of information and beautiful cookies. Well if you’re a cookie decorating novice like me, I isolated the links I found most helpful.
- Sugar cookie recipe and tips
- Royal icing recipe
- Tips and videos for outlinging and flooding cookies with royal icing
- Tips about icing tips
- Basic Cookie decorating supplies (I didn’t buy all the stuff on the list. But, I did buy some icing tips, a squeeze bottle, a coupler, and I also used my trusty liquid measuring cup, tooth picks, and my spray bottle)
- The Twenty second Rule
If you’re an experienced cookie decorator, I’m sure you’ll like the sight too….but maybe won’t need the “how to” videos or any of the same advice I needed.
I found the recipes to be tasty and I really appreciated that the dough didn’t deed to be refrigerated before baking. And despite the fact that I believe the consistencies of all my icing to have been slightly off, I really enjoyed my weekend of decorating cookies. I hope you find these links helpful and have as much fun as I did.
Enjoy your weekend!!!
